Mauth-Finsterau

Boundless holiday pleasure in the National Park community

Directly on the Czech border, deep in the Bavarian Forest, there is the herbs community Mauth-Finsterau. Owing to its unusual climatic conditions up to 1,000 metres in altitude, a colourful diversity of wild and medicinal herbs grows and flourishes in this area. In summer, Mauth-Finsterau is ideal for hiking, and in winter, the snow-covered landscape invites to take a deep breath and relax.

The friendly community Mauth-Finsterau nestles at the National Park Bavarian Forest in the east. As one of the first villages, the community Mauth offers an extensive leisure programme around the subject of herbs and medicinal plants. Guests enjoy exciting activities on the topic of “Pharmacy of Nature”, for instance walking tours, courses, herbal stamp massages and much more. The chefs of the region know how to utilise this special natural diversity, and create culinary masterworks from regional specialities for their guests.

On cross-border hiking, pilgrim or cycling paths, guests from Mauth-Finsterau can enjoy all throughout the year the unspoiled state of nature in the National Parks Bavarian Forest and the Czech Ṡumava. Especially the downright good winter sport conditions are well-known and popular far beyond the borders of the community. So, winter sport fans can live life to the full in the Eldorado of cross-country ski trails, particularly in Finsterau which scores with cross-country ski trails of different degrees of difficulty and a biathlon ground.

The so-called “Buchwaldloipe” is connected with the Czech cross-country ski trail network. On the “Dreikönigsloipe” in Mauth, holidaymakers enjoy, apart from skiing fun, also the impressive landscape.
