Arrival

Those who travel by train arrive safely and rested in the national park region. On site, GUTi, the Gästeservice Umwelt-Ticket, offers free mobility by bus and train. The National ParkCard with the GUTi logo is valid as a ticket. The National Park facilities and many other sights as well as the most important hiking destinations can be reached by bus and train.

Comfortable accessibility by train

The Bavarian Forest National Park holiday region can be easily reached by DB long-distance trains. There are direct ICE/IC connections from Dortmund via Cologne and Frankfurt (Main), from Hamburg via Hanover and from Vienna via Linz to Plattling and Passau. On weekends, there are direct ICE connections from Berlin via Leipzig and Nuremberg to Plattling and Passau. From Plattling, the green Waldbahn shuttles run directly to Zwiesel, Bayerisch Eisenstein and Bodenmais every hour, and every two hours from Zwiesel to Frauenau, Spiegelau and Grafenau. The scenic ride from Plattling to Zwiesel takes just under an hour. Through the large panoramic windows of the Waldbahn, you can enjoy an unobstructed view of one of the most beautiful railway lines in Bavaria.

Our holiday guests in the Bavarian Forest National Park and Nature Park region are given the GUTi guest card free of charge when they check in at their accommodation. It is valid as a free ticket for any number of trips by bus and train during the entire stay. This way you can easily go on hikes with different starting points and destinations, go shopping, visit museums or the national park facilities. Bavarian Forest round trips are also possible.

On the way with GUTi

GUTi, the Guest Service Environmental Ticket, ensures environmentally friendly and sustainable mobility throughout the Bavarian Forest. GUTi is available to everyone who spends their holiday in a municipality of the National Park holiday region.

GUTi is our contribution to climate protection. Use the public transport offer! By doing so, you will help to reduce exhaust and noise pollution in our National Park.

By the way, if you come to National Park guided tours by bus or train, you only pay half the participation fee.

GUTi and Bayerwald-Ticket are valid Monday to Friday from 8 a.m., on weekends and holidays all day for as many journeys as you like by bus and train. The Bayerwald-Ticket route map shows an overview of the routes on offer. The most important timetables are published in the Bayerwald-Ticket timetable folding map. It is available free of charge at all National Park partner businesses and at the tourist information offices. Detailed timetables for all lines can be downloaded from the internet.

With the forest railway through the Bavarian Forest

In total, you can explore the National Park and Nature Park region of Bayerisch Eisenstein on a route network of over 1,100 kilometres. GUTi and Bayerwald-Ticket are valid for the journey with the Waldbahn, the Igel and Falkenstein buses, the Ilztalbahn, all RBO lines in the districts of Regen and Freyung-Grafenau, as well as other private bus companies. Between Bayerisch Eisenstein and Spicak the trains of the Czech State Railways are included in the fare.
