Those who travel by train arrive safely and rested in the national park region. On site, GUTi, the Gästeservice Umwelt-Ticket, offers free mobility by bus and train. The National ParkCard with the GUTi logo is valid as a ticket. The national park facilities and many other sights, as well as the most important hiking destinations are accessible by bus and train.
Comfortable accessibility by train
The Bavarian Forest National Park vacation region can be reached comfortably by DB long-distance trains. There are direct ICE/IC connections from Dortmund via Cologne and Frankfurt (Main), from Hamburg via Hanover and from Vienna via Linz to Plattling and Passau. On weekends, there are direct ICE connections from Berlin via Leipzig and Nuremberg to Plattling and Passau. From Plattling, the green Waldbahn shuttles provide direct connections every hour to Zwiesel, Bayerisch Eisenstein and Bodenmais, and every two hours from Zwiesel to Frauenau, Spiegelau and Grafenau. The scenic ride from Plattling to Zwiesel takes just under an hour. Through the large panoramic windows of the Waldbahn, you can enjoy an unobstructed view of one of the most beautiful railroad lines in Bavaria.

You can explore the National Park and Nature Park region of Bayerisch Eisenstein on a total route network of over 1,100 kilometers. The GUTi and Bayerwald ticket are valid for travel on the Waldbahn, the Igel and Falkenstein buses, the Ilztalbahn, all RBO lines in the districts of Regen and Freyung-Grafenau, as well as other private bus companies. Between Bayerisch Eisenstein and Spicak the trains of the Czech State Railways are included in the fare.
Ask your host for special excursion tips by bus and train! No matter if you go hiking in summer or cross-country skiing in winter, with bus and train you will be chauffeured safely and experience the region from a comfortable vantage point.
GUTi and Bayerwald-Ticket are valid Monday to Friday from 8 a.m., on weekends and holidays all day for any number of trips by bus and train. Current timetables for the GUTI can be found here.

"Wichtige Info" (der Gemeindeverwaltung Spiegelau)
Aufgrund dringend notwendiger Gleisbauarbeiten wird am Donnerstag, den 28.09.2023 der Bahnübergang Schwarzachstraße komplett gesperrt. Es findet an diesem Tag kein Igelbusverkehr statt.
Am Freitag, den 29.09.2023 wird der Bahnübergang Neuhütterstraße von 17 bis 21 Uhr komplett gesperrt. Die Einwohner der Neuhütter Straße, Waldbahnweg, Trosselweg, Filzwiesenweg sowie der Ortsteile Neuhütte und Jägerfleck können an diesem Tag den Bahnübergang nicht überfahren. Auch die Zufahrt zum Waldspielgelände und dem Baumarkt ist an diesem Tag nicht möglich.
Fahrzeuge können auf dem P+R-Parkplatz abgestellt werden. Wir bitten um Beachtung und Verständnis.
Hinweis bzgl. Einschränkung im Bereich Bahnhof Spiegelau (Stand 31.08.2023):
Der Bahnhof kann vom P+R aus angefahren werden, nur von der anderen Seite (aus Richtung TAZ) nicht. Die Durchfahrt der Bahnhofstraße ist nicht möglich, deshalb wird die Bushaltestelle nicht bedient.

Leider hat sich trotz aufmerksamer Erarbeitung und mehrmaliger Überprüfung ein Fehler im Printformat des Fahrplan-Flyers 2023 eingeschlichen.
Hier wurde die Mittagspause aufgrund der Schultage nicht berücksichtigt - Hinweise 1 und 2 fehlen im Fahrplan.

Rail replacement services 2023 due to construction measures
In the period from 31.03.2023 to 30.04.2023, rail replacement services (SEV) will be in operation on the line between Deggendorf and Zwiesel.
RB 35 Plattling - Zwiesel - Bayerisch Eisenstein and back
Due to construction work by DB Netz, all trains between Deggendorf and Zwiesel will be cancelled from 31.03.2023, 9 p.m. to 30.4.2023, approx. 5:25 a.m. and will be replaced by buses. The connections in Gotteszell from and to the RB 38 direction Viechtach will be reached.
Update: The connections in Gotteszell from and to the RB 38 direction Viechtach can usually be reached. Contrary to the published timetable information, the SEV bus to Ruhmannsfelden waits for the connection. Update: Due to a road closure between Regen and Zwiesel from 11.04.2023, the timetable for the rail replacement service (SEV) had to be adjusted. Among other things, the SEV buses depart 4 minutes earlier in Zwiesel.
Please take into account the longer travel times of the rail replacement service to Zwiesel or Deggendorf and, if necessary, use earlier connections to reach connecting trains.
The stops of the rail replacement service (SEV) are not always located directly at the respective stations.

Bicycles can only be carried on the bus within the limits of the available space. Therefore, transportation cannot be guaranteed. Strollers are transported to a limited extent.
Mobility-impaired persons can be transported in principle. However, since it cannot be guaranteed that an appropriate bus (e.g. low-floor) will be available at the appropriate time and place without prior notification, please be sure to register your trip via the Mobility Service Center at 030 65 21 28 88 at the local rate. In this way, a solution can be sought in coordination with the rail transport company.
Rail replacement services with buses cannot usually replace regular train services in terms of comfort, speed and reliability. For this reason, Länderbahn attaches great importance to implementing the SEV in a way that is as passenger-friendly as possible.

Rail replacement service from 25.04. to 03.05.2023 in the late evening Waldbahn Plattling- Zwiesel In the mentioned period the trains 83951 and 83952 between Plattling and Gotteszell or Zwiesel are cancelled and replaced by buses in rail replacement service (SEV).
From 25.04. - 29.04.2023 these two trains are cancelled between Plattling and Zwiesel.
From 30.04. - 02.05.2023 these two trains will be cancelled between Plattling and Gotteszell.

Hourly service of the Waldbahn between Zwiesel and Grafenau
Since December 11, 2022, guests and locals benefit from the hourly frequency of the Waldbahn between Zwiesel and Grafenau.

Extension of line offers
Bus routes and line offers are constantly being expanded and strengthened.
The area of validity of Bayerwald-Ticket and GUTi was extended in 2022 and also already in 2023. They are now also valid in the Šumava region, on all bus and train lines in the western part of the Pilsen district. Excursionists from the region can use the Bayerwald ticket, or vacationers with their GUTi guest card over 140 bus and train lines in the western district of Pilsen (Plzeňský kraj) at no extra charge. This also includes the trains of the Czech State Railways, for example from Bayerisch Eisenstein border station or Furth im Wald to Klattau or Domažlice, as well as the Green Buses in the Šumava National Park.
