The National Park Centre Falkenstein

Go on an excursion into the development of the National Park Bavarian Forest!
Vivid, varied, exciting – this is how in the National Park Falkenstein with the Haus zur Wildnis (house of wilderness), the animal enclosure and the Stone Age Cave you gain insight into the National Park Bavarian Forest as well as into the adjacent National Park Sumava.

In the Haus zur Wildnis you experience at close quarters how the wild forest is changing to a unique forest wilderness. The 3-D-films in the big cinema hall are particularly impressive, and especially for the little visitors it gets interesting when they take the opportunity to actually walk underground…

A snug hiking trail around the Haus zur Wildnis leads through the animal enclosure where you can discover wolves, lynxes, primeval cattle or wild horses.

Afterwards, let us take you back a couple of thousand years: In the Stone Age Cave the visitors can take a tour back into the Ice Age. The cave can be accessed via the hiking trail through the animal enclosure. The reconstructed cave paintings of the wild animals, realistically drawn, are especially impressive.
